well, considering your current local, i’d probably just run at the OKC one and that way you’d have some fans to cheer you on….

Are you following any marathon training schedule? Some goes through 18 weeks, some takes about 12. If 18, then Little Rock Marathon is out.

Also, some people hate running in their own “backyard.” I did Denver and boy I hated it. It was right in Downtown Denver and I live 2 blocks away from mile 25 (imagine the temptation of wanting to go home at that point). Also, running a local marathon, you’ll know exactly how far this street to that street, this park to that park since you’ve drove/ran/walked through them often. But, Damon is right. You’ll have home crowd cheering for you and believe me, everytime I saw my friends, I was in better spirit and the pain kinda went away briefly.

I prefer out-of-town marathons, especially somewhere I haven’t been before just because, hey, what better way to check out the city besides running 26.2 miles around it.

Hi,
From one happy runner to another, I think you ought to choose two. I’ll be running Little Rock and OKC. That would be a good choice for you also. That will give you seven weeks between runs for recuperating and training.

Although I’ve run the Kona Half-Marathon and P. F. Chang’s Rock ‘N Roll Phoenix Half-Marathon, I like the idea of being able to drive to the Little Rock and OKC events.
